Syntech Rocks rAge
31, 254ย Fans of Everything Geeky Visited the Domeย Over Threeย Days Fromย 10 to 12 October 2014!
rAge targeted a few new and different segments of the market this year. Besides the usual crazy fanatical gamers who camped outside in the queue on Thursday night, we saw many more female visitors, technology enthusiasts, families, and a big jump in people dressed in costumes (cosplay) pounding the aisles.
Besides the Expo visitors, the show saw Jack Parow, Stephen โSnoopehโ Ellis (a famous League of Legends player) and even Mario and Princess Peach enjoying themselves.
The general sentiment during and after rAge 2014 was that it was one of the best shows yet with better access inside the venue, less queuing in the mornings, wider aisles, a revised floor plan layout and the moving of 500 LAN gamers to a separate area (Area 51).
The Syntech Team saw: 31, 254 targeted visitors, over 100 exhibitors, 2, 370 NAG LAN gamers all revelling in the latest games and gadgets, on 19, 553m2 of exhibition floor space for three days. This is testament to rank rAge as Africaโs largest gaming event. Research confirms this expected expansion. The latest PWC Media and Entertainment Outlook South Africa1states that SAโs video games market was worth: R2.4 billion in 2013, up from R1.6 billion in 2009. Revenues are forecast to grow to reach 3.7 billion by 2018.
The Syntech Team set themselves up to market and promote a few key Suppliers. Crucial , Ballistix, Raidmax, Rii and Seasonic were amongst the products displayed to name but a few.
